I’m looking for info on this rack. Mitchell Camera drying rack PH-42,model 58. Specifically year and value. My friend just picked it up at a flea market. Thanks in advance!!!

That's a great obscurity find, sir. I don't often see Mitchell items that I've never seen before but this one falls into that category. However, the "Signal Corps" is a give away that it wasn't meant for the Hollywood production Studios. Let's see what the other members think.

Thanks! I’d like to purchase from my friend. He’s a picker and always contacts me when finds military items. He also sells quick before researching and I hope he holds this for me and it’s a good find! I don’t want to pay too much!

My guess would be that it is for drying exposed motion picture film. I see a manual on top: Improved "Stineman System" Motion Picture and Aerial Mapping Film. Looks like there is also other goodies in small boxes.

Mitchell made motion picture cameras for military planes as well as Hollywood studios.

I found reference to the part number on Google Books, indicating it is circa 1938. My guess is that it's just for drying still camera film or plates after being developed. I wouldn't think it would be worth much, as I can't see much of a market for this, but that's just my opinion.
