3Dmodel

Hi to all,

I made a 3D model of a standard Mitchell supposed to belong to the thirties from internet pictures (that is all I have!)

I would just need some dimensions (in mm please) to validate it. If anybody would be kind enough as to give me lenght, width an height of the L base, it woud be of great help.
I would also appreciate pictures of a Mitchell tripod and head to replace the very generic tripod I have at the moment.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Very Nice Zemke! Are you a character animator? I’ve got a Mitchell Standard but it’s packed away but I’ll try to get to it and give you measurements. I’m working on a 3D model of the BNC, the large iconic Hollywood Camera used for sound filming. I want to print it out on my 3D printer. Cheers, Mark

Thanks very much for your kind words (to both of you).
In fact, I made this model as part of a project to model a Citroen type " P19 Croisière Jaune".
There was a special "voiture cinema" carrying an Eyemo and a Mitchell camera.
The Mitchell had sound recording capabilities but I know nothing about this sound stuff and will be very happy if any of you could help me on that subject as well.
The Crosiière jaune took place between 1931 and 1932, this is why I tried to figure a Mitchell from this area.
I am not in any buiseness with no one, just a penssionned man playing with his computer. As former active modeler (when a kid) I now switched to a 21st century modeling technology.
If there is any interest, I will send you the 3D model (Sketchup) should you wish to play with your 3d printer (then, an extra print would be greatly appreciated!)

This is the car I will model:

I just realised there is one side missing.
Here it is:

I also made two small videos of the model but I don't know how to upload them to the forum.
Should you give me an Email address, I will send them there.

Zemke, wonderful, yes I would love the file to print on my brand new 3D printer! Yes of course, if you supply the file, I’ll send you a model. We can talk about details later. I may not be able to get to the measurements til next week, but I will. Very cool project. The camera I own is a Mitchell “Standard” that was actually made in 1931. Mitchell Cameras became the primary camera in Hollywood for many years, starting gradually in the 1920’s and continued thru the 1960’s. For sound filming they first would put a Standard in a sound proof housing (called a blimp) then later in the 1930’s they made a similar camera but built a special smaller housing over the camera that became fixed to the camera (the BNC). Hollywood would continue to use these The non sound version for filming that did not require sound recording.

PM me and I’ll give you my email address. Then I send clear pictures and measurements.

Mark

I've also 3D printed parts for a NC camera, mostly lens parts so far (for repairs) and a M42 mount when the camera is on public display.

Very Nice Boyd! What's the serial number of your NC? Do you have any history on it? Mark

It’s a Newall NC (no.138), the one on www.filmcentre.co.uk/hammer.htm
Though I do have a lot of spare parts (standard/NC), a working S35R and a 16pro (no.567)

Okay, I was asking thinking it was a Mitchell NC, which this website has sales record info for.

Boyd,

Consider adding your 16 pro in our registry. Currently, our detailed info on 16 pros is a bit sparse but we do have the sales/production dates.
There are some here who woukd be interested in whatever parts you have.

Would be interested in more on your Newall. Elsewhere in the forums there is information on them.
