BNC #17 looking for any info

Post by gcoutts » Thu Aug 31, 2017 5:13 pm

Would anyone have any info on this camera, what I have is a complete set of blimps assembled as a prop camera but would love to know something about its history. It was last used as a prop in a Movie of the Week about Annette Funicello.

Did you look at the top left serial numbers tab to find the year for the camera first? I take it there is no camera or motor so our registry is not viable.
My records show #17 to be one of a number of lend-lease cameras sent to the USSR and made in 1939. That doesn't seem a likely thing to be back here but could happen. There should be a number on the inside of the casting. ED.

Here is the motor door for BNC #17. This would be used to mount a wild motor that could be adjusted for numerous speeds, but not for synchronous sound.

Gcoutts.

My sincere apologies about the origin of BNC#17.

The information I had back in 2017 was from a magazine article that has been since found to have a number of errors.

In checking the actual records we now have, BNC#17 was actually a studio camera purchased by Universal Pictures Corp. On June 12,1936.

Gcoutts

I have recently been engaged in making a prop camera for the inside of an empty blimp like yours. I have extra prototype and real parts that could be purposed for another.

Are you interested in having a visibly convincing replica that racks over and has a readable shutter adjustment function added to your blimp?

Sorry to take so long to reply, just happened to be browsing and came across your comment. I’m not looking to do anything with my blimp other then try to sell it.

What would you be willing to sell for? Shipping to central Ohio?

On the bench currently is BNC305 which was converted to an Nc-R at some point.

I am in the process of taking it back to its original configuration (parts willing).
A blimp to put it into to verify would be a plus.
