Hi all. I have a Mitchell Standard with a sn of 167. I want to find out a bit more about it, age, who was first owner etc. Is there anyone who can help me? I live in Adelaide, Australia.

Hello mate! Unfortunately, this web site does not have access to the Mitchell Camera Corp. records which references serial numbers. I hear they exist however (Joe Duton of Panavision UK) I will attempt to track down the location of the serial number records as this would be the perfect place to house that type of information. I can only hope that someday we will have access to them so that enthusiasts such as yourself can find them easily.

If you would like to share some pictures of your Standard, I'm sure the other members would enjoy it as much as I would. There is a "upload attachment" button at the bottom of each new message post window that makes it easy to share photos.

I found some great pictures of a Mitchell Standard, since you asked for some to be posted but I don't own one (yet).

It would be so great if this website had a complete database of all the old Mitchell records.

Nonetheless, I am enjoying looking around the site.

Great pix. But, look closely and you will see that this is a GC slid onto a Standard L rackover base. Interesting that the later model CD fits on a much earlier piece. ED.

Another interesting note is that the L base has the knobs for the floating iris, movable mattes, etc. This is a very nice feature. Often times the internal workings are removed.

Mark,

Not exactly on-topic anymore but whatthaheck. What say you: is that that odd lever contraption on the side to control the iris open/close?

Don't believe a standard issue feature. Be interesting to know what knobs controlled what. ED.
