Re: Linwood Dunn/Star Trek

Really grainy shot. Hard to tell except for the flipped left gear wheel and the obvious cables suggest a partially motorised gear head. Oldest inventory was always fodder for modifications. Would bet that gearhead is an old Mole-Richardson. Again, this was all poverty city. Everybody thought this wo...

Re: Linwood Dunn/Star Trek

Sorry for the delay. Busy with studio project. I have a better picture similar to your second shot but it looks like a setup shot since the camera is not plugged in. The in that shot camera is obviously not an NC as the motor is at the back of the camera. An NC is distinguished by the motor being ne...

Re: 4 reel Magazine

Neal, Welcome. You have half your answer already but as to the use, it is complicated. The Bipack was something Mitchell cameras could handle because of the long shafts for the pulldowns and the registration pins. Other specially built optical printer and camera stand cameras were specifically desig...

Re: Mitchell 205 R

Gajus75, Thanks to good friend Richard Bennett of CinemaEngineering: The Mitchell 205R was a highly modified BNC. It was converted for spinning mirror reflex viewing, crystal motor, and it was put in a smaller custom blimp housing. The camera was and is a fine camera. They were part of a rental comp...
