Re: Mitchell goes to war

Flashlarue, Looks to be a Mitchell Standard. It has both the adjustable 4 way matte and iris controls on the front. Looks like a high speed motor from the tach. The tripod and head are also Mitchell. Parker could have become a director after the war based on his experience. Lots of people in the fil...

Re: BNC #17 looking for any info

Did you look at the top left serial numbers tab to find the year for the camera first? I take it there is no camera or motor so our registry is not viable. My records show #17 to be one of a number of lend-lease cameras sent to the USSR and made in 1939. That doesn't seem a likely thing to be back h...

Know the BNC mount came about because of the desire to have different lenses available and a quick way of changing them. B&L supposedly had some input in the design. Re: History of BNC mount

Dom, Welcome. If you check the serial numbers tab at the top right, you will find that 86 BNC' s were made before 1950. The first one was made for Sam Goldwyn in 1934 from an unsold NC. In design for a truly silent studio camera,(NC- 35db, BNC-21db) it was found the most noise after blimping the bod...

Re: "Buying a Mitchell Camera" guide

I just got a message asking about HAND CRANKS. Really missed on that one. Hopefully I can change the guide. In the meantime... Here's the deal: Was stated that "a Mitchell with a hand crank proves that the camera is old, right?" WRONG . Every Mitchell camera featuring an external motor has the abil...
