Here is the motor door for BNC #17. This would be used to mount a wild motor that could be adjusted for numerous speeds, but not for synchronous sound.

My guess would be that it is for drying exposed motion picture film. I see a manual on top: Improved "Stineman System" Motion Picture and Aerial Mapping Film. Looks like there is also other goodies in small boxes. Mitchell made motion picture cameras for military planes as well as Hollywood studios.

That's a great obscurity find, sir. I don't often see Mitchell items that I've never seen before but this one falls into that category. However, the "Signal Corps" is a give away that it wasn't meant for the Hollywood production Studios. Let's see what the other members think.
